Petition presented to Parliament
Tom Tugendhat MP presented a petition to the House of Commons on July 23rd.
"Keep Kent Green" has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the the plan, issues and environmental consequences to the public's attention. More than 1,000 people stated that:
I/we object to KCC Minerals Plan. It is not sound because:
KCC's minerals plan proposes only 2 “sand and gravel” sites in the whole of Kent - Stonecastle Farm M13 and Moat Farm M10 - neighbouring farms.
Proposed developments threaten approximately 200 acres of Green Belt Farm Land
KCC have withdrawn sites that are not within the Green Belt.
There has been minimal publicity and community involvement; KCC only wrote to residents within 250 metres of the proposed sites.
The plan does not include any measures to mitigate the effects of climate change.
